Our Story
Princia was founded in 2023 with a vision to combat light pollution and preserve the natural beauty of our night skies. As the only student-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to this cause, we are uniquely positioned to inspire change through education, advocacy, and community engagement. What began as a small initiative has grown into a powerful movement, driven by passionate individuals committed to making a difference.
Since our inception, Princia has achieved significant milestones in the fight against light pollution. We have:
- Been invited to speak the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.
- Successfully advocated for light pollution regulations in 7 states.
- Published research on the impact of light pollution on human health and wildlife.
- Involved 250+ advocates spanning across 6 continents.
- Obtained grant from Cornell University to further our efforts.
